- Lleuwen : Tour & Video
Following the recent release of her exhilarating fourth album, Gwn Glân Beibl Budr (which translates as: Clean Gun Dirty Bible), singer songwriter Lleuwen has announced a series of acoustic gigs in chapels across Wales and an accompanying church-filmed new video of its dramatic opening track, Myn Mair.
- Red or Dead : New EP & Album
North Wales' finest agit-punk-folk band, Red or Dead, chose an impromptu gig at The Bluebell, Conwy to preview songs from their forthcoming second album. The as yet unnamed LP should be out next April, and before that acoustic delight there will be an electric EP unleashed at the end of January.
Roath Folk Festival 2019
The Gate in Cardiff, which has recently hosted a series of finely curated folk nights in its atmospheric performance space, is now extending the format with a day long folk festival. The new event will be headlined by The Gentle Good, with Nick Harper, Three Cane Whale, Ivan Moult, VRï, James Bower, Colum Regan and a ceilidh led by The Backroom Band.
- FOCUS Wales 2019 : Colorama, Skindred & Neck Deep to Play Festival
Wrexham's annual celebration of new music and arts has announced its second wave of live acts. These include Carwyn Ellis' Colorama, South Wales alt. metal force of nature Skindred and Wrexham's own Neck Deep. Early Bird tickets for the event are still available, and more programme announcements are expected soon.
- FolkEast : 2019 Headliners
England's most easterly folk festival will draw heavily on the Celtic fringe for its 2019 headliners. The event, held on 16th - 18th August next year, will see Richard Thompson joined at the top of the bill by Karine Polwart, Cara Dillon, the Sharon Shannon Band, Ross Ainslie & Jarlath Henderson and bilingual Welsh globetrotters Calan.
