Preview : FOCUS Wales 2018 : Tudur Owen's Comedy Marathon : Tudur Owen / Jonathan Williams / Hywel Pitts / Lorna Corner / Kevin Caswell-Jones [Cymraeg]

FOCUS Wales' exciting new comedy showcase is hosted by Tudur Owen.

Rightly described as 'Riotously Funny' by The Reviews Hub, Tudur is an established act on the UK stand up circuit and is one of Wales' finest comedy talents, with a string of sell out Edinburgh Fringe runs to his name. Tudur works in Welsh and English. Following his debut appearance on BBC Radio 4's The Now Show and a performance on the same station's State Of The Nation, he has been commissioned to create two programmes of his own for BBC Radio 4, to be broadcast later in 2018. Tudur has written numerous Welsh language comedy scripts for television, radio and theatre - his spoof Royal Wedding Documentary for S4C was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award.

For this bilingual show, Tudur is joined by two outstanding Welsh comedic talents.

Jonathan Williams has been on the stand-up circuit for 15 years, performing all over the UK. He has also toured America, performing twice at the legendary Comedy Store in West Hollywood. He has written for BBC Radio One and Radio Wales, who made a documentary about his 2015 Edinburgh show Selected Bums. After seeing Williams perform, The Guardian's Owen Jones was to the point in his praise : 'A very funny man. Go see him now!'.

Hywel Pitts is a male songstress from North Wales. When he's not blowing away bar staff and sound people with his trilingual rock band I Fight Lions, he sings mature and mirthful songs about cultural apathy, fiscal inequality and shoddy sex-puns.

Finally, there are two further high-spirited, emerging Welsh comedians on the bill - chosen specially for the event from an open selection process.

Raised in Abergele, Cardiff-based Lorna Corner has been a comedian for just twelve months. In that time she has managed to cram in a hundred gigs, and was brave enough to venture to the Edinburgh Fringe last year as a performer after her first nine. With a couple of quickly gathered awards for improv to her name, Lorna also runs a new comedy club in Cardiff, Howl. She is a fluent Welsh speaker. Her style is a mix of the observational, surreal and autobiographical, and her act is always 'clever, engaging and effervescent'

Wrexham based Kevin Caswell-Jones is just three years into his comedy career. Developing rapidly, he has made his mark with bookings at the Comedy Store, The Frog and Bucket (Manchester), Cardiff's Glee and the full set of Kill for a Seat's North Wales clubs. Naturally funny, Kevin specialises in observational humour with an occasional sardonic edge, his set seemingly drawn from an ever-evolving midlife crisis.
